Perak Hotel, Little India, Singapore

Perak Hotel is located in Little India. Housed in a restored building, this place felt like a family-run guest house instead of the typical nondescript budget hotel.

Our beds were located on a raised platform, two-step up from the door. The size of the room is comparable with the typical budget hotel in Singapore. It's small but clean and neat.

Room booked, finally...

We are going to stay in Perak Hotel in Singapore next week.

The hostel which I wanted to book charge per person, not room, even if I book a private room. In the end the price is almost similar to a room in a hotel but without the facilities! Since we have few people sharing for few days, it make sense to have a proper room. It's also good if we want to have a party or drinking session : )

Most of the budgets hotel I find are rather dogdy looking but Perak Hotel seems nice, at least from the website. I booked through the website and the response from the hotel was quite fast. So, that seems like a good start.

Can't wait for next week!

Cupcake - First !!

This is the first time I baked cupcakes. My previous experience in anything related to baking was a non-baked cheese cake where I just need to chill it in the fridge.

It was edible.

Kemensah Waterfall: Living in a hut

Kemensah Waterfall is located in Ulu Selangor.

The pondok (hut) we stayed was quite interesting, in that it has nothing except a few tikar (mat) and a light bulb as our main source of light! Mattresses are provided upon request. The electricity for the light bulb was generate from a generator, which was only turn on from 6pm till 7am the next day! As for the toilet, we use the one attached to the house of the Malay couple who run the place.

Being a city girl, it was my first experience living in such bare necessities. Yes, sad to say, I have never go camping before. It was good to be surrounded by nature. Even the network signal for our phones were weak, most of the time we don't get any signal at all.

Quiet and peaceful, all I did was laze around and read my book...

MTV Asia Award 08

The event was good, would be great if only we get to go to the post-award party... I wanted to meet Jared Leto! Even though we have VIP tickets but we didn't get to go because the post-party need a special invites!

Highlight of the night
:

The Pussycat Dolls being hugged by the Philippine's band (guys definitely) who presented the girls an award, to the boos from the crowd.. Yeah, the crowd was jealous!

Leona Lewis's performance... amazing voice and she looks great. No wonder PETA
(People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) voted her as the sexiest vegetarian celebrities of 2008.

Other that performed were:

OneRepublic

The Script

Stefanie Sun & Electrico

I didn't take manage to take lot of photos because I forget to charge the battery of the camera! So, not much photos of us.. too bad... This was definately a one-time only experience. But I think I managed to take nice photos of the almost all the performers above, except no Leona Lewis because the battery totally died.

I wonder where would it be next year and would I be able to go again?

* The photos above are small because I lost the original size files :(

Sungai Klah Hot Springs

Went to a day trip to Sungai Klah hot springs in Perak last Sunday.

It was my first visit to hot spring. I was expecting a full body spa-like session, soaking in the hot water but it was not the case. The hot spring pools were only knee-length deep and small. There was a theme-park like water pool but the water was not hot.

One cool thing about the place is the egg boiling area, where you put a basket full of eggs into the water and wait for it to cook! The water temperature at the selected area for egg boiling can go up to 100C and is strictly not for soaking your feet!

We stopped by Ipoh at a shop named Loh Wong for its famous Hor Fun and Beansprout chicken. It was delicious! I don't normally eat soup-based noodle because I find it too bland, but the hor fun soup was so nice. The beansprout was slightly bigger in size than what we normally have in KL, it was ok for me but the chicken was good. And it was cheap too!

The day we went to this trip is 27/07/2008 so we decided to buy the number 2778 but it was sold out in all three shops! Luckily it didn't come out...

If only we managed to buy the number and win, to pay for the trip!

Welcome!

Welcome to Le Petite Cafe!

I enjoy sitting in a cafe, especially those that are cosy and homely, complete with yummy comfort food such as pastries, pies and great coffee! It's a good place for gathering where everyone can share interesting stuff together. This is what I intended this blog to be... but in the end I choose the name because I like the sound of it. And I think petite suits me well :)
